Rent for one to six days, or take a lesson

Ocean Vagabond’s water sports centre is called Salt Water Elements. It rents kite gear in four formats, with starting prices in euros checked on 25 October 2026: €43 for 2 hours, €71 a day, €185 for three days and €285 for six. The pack holds a board, bar, this year’s Duotone EVO or NEO kite, harness and wetsuit. On the one- to six-day packages, the school lets you switch kite or board when conditions change.

The package changes the bill. Six single days would cost €426, the six-day package €285, which is €47.50 a day. Kite, wing and windsurf insurance is an optional extra: €20 for one day, €40 for three, €70 for six. Nothing says whether the package days must run consecutively, so ask before you pay. Our advice: if you ride alone and are staying a week, book the six-day package rather than renting day by day.

To learn, the school sells two 2-hour lessons. The private lesson, from €123, pairs one pupil with an instructor, with a Bluetooth headset provided. The semi-private lesson, from €95, takes two pupils of a similar level, each with their own gear included in the price. Two points remain unclear: whether that price is per pupil, and whether gear is included in the private lesson. The same centre also teaches and rents wingfoil, windsurf, surf and paddleboard gear.

Where the centre is and how to get there

Ocean Vagabond sits on the sand beside boulevard Mohamed V, facing the Mogador islands. From place Moulay Hassan, allow 2.2 km and about 30 minutes on foot, or 2.3 km and 4 minutes by car. The centre lies south of the medina, on the beach of Essaouira bay. No parking is mentioned.

On site you will find gear storage near the water, changing rooms, showers, wifi, a compressor, a shop and free filtered water. The centre answers daily from 10:00 to 18:00 on +212 618 168 472, also on WhatsApp. Our advice: if you are staying in the medina with your own kite, storage saves you carrying the bag more than 2 km each day. Ask the price when you book.

Who it suits and what to know before booking

The school puts the wind season at April to October. Rental does not include an instructor, so we recommend it to riders who already sail alone. Our advice: a beginner starts with a private or semi-private lesson, then moves on to rental once they can ride upwind unaided. Before committing to six days, check the bay’s wind hour by hour.

Each package is booked online, on the school’s booking site. For a lesson, the school asks for your level and your goal, and reminds you to claim your IKO level certification at the end of the course. It calls its instructors “qualified” and “certified” without naming the body that certifies them or the centre’s affiliation.

To compare packages, Explora Watersports and Kite and Surf Essaouira teach on the same bay. Our Kitesurf page sets the schools’ prices side by side, with the coast’s three spots.
