What you are booking

Riad Baladin has ten rooms, each with its own bathroom, heating and a view of the patio. The Jardin room has a single bed. Six rooms have a double or two single beds. Rose, Grise and Blanche have a fireplace, and Rose, Grise and Ciel can take an extra bed.

Prices are in euros only: “from” €54 for the Jardin, €78 for the six double or twin rooms and €82 for the three fireplace rooms, continental breakfast included. For the night of 10 November only one room was left, the “Chambre Simple avec Grand Lit”, 20 m² and two people at most: €90 for two with breakfast, plus €5 tourist tax (rates checked on 25 October 2026).

Breakfast, Moroccan and continental, is served from 08:30 to 12:00 on the terrace or in the lounges. Book ahead and it is served between 05:00 and 08:30 for an early start. The patio jacuzzi, heated to 36 °C, is included in the room price and booked between 15:00 and 22:00. An hour’s argan oil massage costs 350 MAD.

Where it is, and which gate to use

The riad is at 9 rue Sidi Magdoul, at the end of a cul-de-sac in the medina. The Skala de la Ville and its cannon are 267 m away, a 4-minute walk. Pasta Baladin, the house restaurant, serves Italian-style pasta 103 m away, near the Skala.

The nearest gate is the clock gate, 440 m and 6 minutes away along rue Laâlouj. Bab Sbaâ, at the end of avenue du Caire, is 564 m and 8 minutes away. From Bab Doukkala, where the shared taxis stop, allow 776 m and 10 minutes via rue du Mellah and rue Ceuta. From Bab Marrakech it is 802 m and 11 minutes. Our advice: with luggage, ask to be dropped at Bab Sbaâ. Of the three gates a road reaches, it is the shortest walk.

The riad sells fixed-price, door-to-door transfers. A private transfer for one to three people costs 250 MAD from Essaouira airport and 900 MAD from Marrakech (rates checked on 25 October 2026). Book four nights or more direct and the one-way transfer from Essaouira airport is included.

Who it suits, and what to know before booking

Our view: Baladin suits people who come for the medina and the ramparts, especially from November to February, since every room is heated. The rooms are on the first, second and top floors, none on the ground floor. If someone in your party struggles with stairs, ask for a first-floor room: Jardin, Cannelle, Crème, Azur or Grise.

For a family, Rose and Grise work as triple rooms. There is also Dar Baladin, a whole house to rent, 3 minutes’ walk from the Bab Marrakech car park, with two double beds, two bathrooms and a kitchen. It has its own contact, +212 666 18 36 58.
