What the lessons and packages include

Tafoukt Surf School sells three single lessons, in euros and per person. A group lesson costs €30, with five students at most. A duo costs €45 per person, so €90 for two, and a private lesson €50. Every lesson comes with a board, a wetsuit, a theory session on safety and the spot, a warm-up and a debrief afterwards. Photos and video analysis are optional, price on request.

How long a single lesson lasts is not stated, while the packages speak of 2-hour lessons. The pages that show them have not been updated since May and June 2025, so when we checked them on 25 October 2026 these prices were more than a year old. Get them confirmed in writing.

There are three packages, and their lists contradict each other. The 3-day package, at €80, includes three 2-hour lessons. The 6-day package, at €150, lists exactly the same three lessons. The ‘Full Experience’, at €270, lists a single 2-hour lesson, with photos and video analysis. None of the three mentions accommodation or meals, although the school talks elsewhere of stays with partner guesthouses without naming any.

Our view: the 3-day package is the only one whose list is clear. Its three 2-hour lessons work out at under €27 each, against €30 for a single group lesson. For the other two, ask how many lessons, how many nights and which accommodation the price covers before you pay anything.

Where to find the school and how to get there

The school teaches in Imsouane, 99 km and 1 h 35 by road south of Essaouira. Our page on the village of Imsouane covers the drive and why you should come back in daylight. The school gives no address, only the postcode 80043. Its coordinates sit about 4 km north of the harbour, 2 km from the village of Chhayfa, well away from the bay it calls the wave to learn on.

So ask for the meeting point when you book, and where to park: there is nothing on parking, and transport is ‘on request’, with no starting point or price. The school’s number, +212 660 795 957, also works on WhatsApp. The wave itself is described on our Imsouane bay page.

Who it suits, and what to know before you book

The coach the school introduces is Mohammed. He has surfed since 2010, started in Oualidia and later settled in Imsouane. Tafoukt means ‘sun’ in Tamazight. The school takes every level, from someone who has never surfed to advanced, and aims the group lesson at beginners and intermediates. In its view, the best months are September to April. In summer the waves are smaller and suit beginners.

Cancellation terms, deposit, payment methods and minimum age are not given. The school’s website was last updated in September 2025. Our view: write before you make the drive, and wait for a reply that confirms this season’s prices.

For comparison, EasyRide Surf School also teaches in Imsouane, and Ocean Vibes Morocco teaches at Sidi Kaouki, 26 km from Essaouira. Our Surf page compares the coast’s breaks by level and by season.
